Are you guilty of Never-Print-Itis?
Our digital images sit nice and snug on our phones, our Facebook accounts and our computers (aka the digital junk drawer.) If we're lucky, we look at them maybe once a year and our kids see them even less.
I'm guilty of the "never print" syndrome too. Time to change that. Time for us and our kids to enjoy and re-live favorite memories with printed art to love and to hold.
In addition to desk prints, wall art, and albums, there's a world of fun things that you can do to see your pictures in a brand new way.
Here are 7 new, fun, and surprising ways to get your digitals off your computer and into your hands.
01: Custom Reel Showcase- Image 3D
First up, we're kicking it old school with Image 3D Custom Reels. Remember the View Master you had as a kid? I totally loved click, click, clicking through mine to see cartoons come to life through my awesome red binoculars. I've ordered some of my recent fave photographs printed on an Image 3D Reel and I can tell you it is every bit as exciting to see the 3d magic at age 35 as it was at age 5. Fun Suggestion: Why not create a reel of year-in-review highlight photos for your child and give it as a gift on their birthday?
02: Memory Card Game- Pinhole Press
Does this sound familiar: "How was school today?" "Fine." "What'd you do today?" "Nothing." We created "Classroom Memory" for our daughter when she was in Pre-K, thanks to this awesome product from Pinhole Press. It became one of her favorite family time games. We got to play together and hear about her day with friends as each card was flipped. I give this brilliant, durable product two thumbs up!
03: Baby Board Book- Pinhole Press
Pinhole Press, where were you when my babies were born? Back when I was a new mama, I wanted a way to remind my son of the family that didn't live close by. We'd point to the pages of our slip-in style album and say "Where's Aunt Becky? Where's Grandma and Grandpa?" My son would coo back and there'd be cuddles and happy memories all around. Wish I had a beautiful, sturdy bound book like this for my babies.
04: Wood Prints- Woodsnap
Oh my good golly, do I LOVE prints on wood! If you are an outdoorsy type (talking to you my beach-loving southwest Florida friends) you MUST check out Woodsnap. Not only does this company make a heckuva great product, but they do it with heart and good conscience too. I love that they plant a tree for every Woodsnap you order. They also take special care to make the most of the grain of the wood when positioning your image. To let the natural beauty of the wood shine through, look for images with light colors. Beach baby pics never looked so good!
05: Playing Cards- Mpix
Unplugged family time just got better! I totally love teaching my kids new card games. Lately, Old Maid and War have been our go-to games. I can't wait till they're old enough to master Spades. Playing cards with your very own custom family deck just adds that much more fun to your time together. You will love the shimmery pearl finish on the deck from Mpix.
06: Standouts- Mpix
Now might be a good time to mention that Mpix is my go-to recommended lab when it comes to consumer prints. Their quality is great, the ordering system is a piece of cake with drag and drop upload, and delivery is lickety splity fast to your doorstep. I enjoy the modern look of standouts with their clean lines. The look is similar in style to canvas prints but with a lower price tag, which means you can go to town printing gifts and small wall art portraits using your fave family moments.
07: Instagram-Friendly Books- Artifact Uprising
I first discovered Artifact Uprising at a Pro Photographer Tradeshow. I was wow-ed by the quality of their books but even more impressed with the passionate folks who worked there. You can tell they really enjoy creating books that will be loved by artists and momtogs alike. This organic mama is totally thrilled by their commitment to use 100% recycled paper manufactured with windpower. Their innovative new approach to Instagram encourages people to get photos "off your device and into your life." Couldn't have said it better myself!
I'd love to hear about the products that thrill you most. Drop me a line to tell me what you'll be printing in the months to come.
