Dear Little Max,
Did I ever tell you that I met you before you were born? Your mom was walking out of First Watch café just as I was walking in. She was wearing yoga pants topped with a beautiful preggo belly and a warm smile. I stopped in my tracks then immediately chased her into the parking lot.
You know how pretty your mommy is, right? I just had to let her know how much I would love to photograph her.
A few months later you were born and I was invited to your home to capture precious newborn you.
I made a promise right there—the same promise I make to all my clients—that I would do my best to treat you (and your mom and dad) as clients for life.
Clients for life means I print products with you in mind. I want you, sweet Max, to grow to love your pictures as much as me and your parents do.
It makes me smile when I visit your home and see that your image box is right there on the shelf at a perfect height for your curious toddler fingers to grab. I want you to touch and love those happy memories to your heart’s content. With sturdy mounted prints and smudge-proof luster coating, I know your mama won’t gasp when she sees you reaching out to them.
Clients for life means I treat you to the very best products around when we decorate your home with love.
And if that framed print from your newborn session ever does something it’s not supposed to, I’ll replace it of course. It’s covered under my lifetime warranty. I want it to look beautiful and perfect—just like you!
Clients for life means your clever mom and I put our heads together to find the most perfect cool, modern spot for your nine-month photo shoot.
I can’t help but smile when I see your face!
Clients for life means I was contacted with the awesome news that you and your family were expecting a new baby.
Your sister Raia looks so much like you when you were a newborn. I’m glad you have these photos to remember.
This time for your sister’s nine month baby portrait session, I made sure to insist on including video. I love seeing you and Raia in action.
Your mom doesn’t know it yet but years from now when you and Raia have outgrown holding tight with your dimpled toddler hands, she is gonna press play on your family video and cry. We moms are like that.
Clients for life means I threw in a couple extra images from your session because we all know if there’s one thing your mom can’t get enough of, it’s pictures of you two cuties.
Clients for life means I resist the temptation to sell only digitals. At just three years old, you’re too young to peek in on your mom and dad’s computer, but I know you wake up every day and see your family memories on the wall and in your special keepsake boxes too. And besides, 10 years from now, you’re gonna get a big kick out of this silly, old storage thing we call dvd’s.
Clients for life means you’re so much more than just a kid at a session, Max!
You’re someone I hope to follow year after year as you grow and change; live, laugh and learn. I want to see what’s going to come of your gorgeous head of curls. I want to know if you’ll still tackle-hug your adorable sister. I want to see you grow to have your own gap-toothed grin (just like my kids have now.)
I want to photograph you at all the milestones that make family life so special. Maybe I’ll even do your senior photo shoot, your wedding, or your baby’s first shoot. I wish to be so lucky!
I have this sign above my computer so that I always remember to give more, care more, hug more.
Thanks for the high-fives, little Max, and for the laughs and love you’ve shared over the years. Big kisses to your mom and dad!
