When do you feel beautiful?
Stop a moment and think it over.
As women, we all have our ideas about what beauty looks like. But just what does beauty feel like? When do you feel truly beautiful?
I asked the leading ladies of the PACE Center for Girls their thoughts and the responses were as delightful and varied as the women themselves.
In celebration of the upcoming Love That Dress! event we wanted to showcase some of the beautiful dresses that will be available for you to love and purchase. But more importantly, we wanted to put the spotlight on the beautiful women that are so special to our Southwest Florida community.
When current PACE student, Jene, came into our studio she was soft-spoken and thoughtful. Her responses were windows to her soulful spirit. “I feel beautiful when I do generous and caring things for others.” “I feel beautiful when I’m at peace.” “I feel beautiful when I take pride in myself.”
Emily, in contrast, had a vibrant, spunky personality. Also a thriving student at PACE, Emily was excited to have the day off and couldn’t wait to get glam. When does Emily feel beautiful? “When I curl my hair… When I get my nails done… When I try on a new outfit… When I’m dancing.” Happy to say that Emily got to do all of the above on her Beauty shoot day!
Leading the girls as executive director at PACE, Meg Geltner had this to say: “I feel beautiful when I share my love and faith with the PACE girls.” Meg is a beautiful new addition to the PACE community. She’s jumped right in with her passion and heart. It was exciting to hear her explain the changes at the new PACE facility. One new change you’ll be seeing in the future, is this very portrait installation, reminding the girls of the beauty within them.
And then there’s this glam squad, led by Sandy Stilwell (chair of the board of directors at PACE.) Sandy shared: “I feel beautiful when I have taken the time to get dressed in something pretty, on the arm of my loved one and headed to join friends at a good charity event.” With that in mind, Love That Dress sounds like the perfect place for Sandy and friends!
If you’ve had the pleasure to meet these tireless community leaders, you know that they are constant smile-makers and care takers. Holly Olson (longtime PACE supporter), Melissa Cofta (past PACE development director and current board member), and Christin Collins (founder of Love That Dress and past PACE board member) were happy to join Sandy for some photo shoot fun. Spending time with friends you love is a great way to feel beautiful!
Finally, Allyson Ross, with adorable baby Connor in tow, reflected on when she feels beautiful: “When I see myself as my son sees me.” Such a touching sentiment that I’m sure many moms identify with.
Allie and Special Projects Coordinator Sally Kee were so helpful with pulling together the details of this shoot. A big THANK YOU to them for all they do! Allie’s hard work serving on the Love That Dress committee and as dress party chair will surely make an amazing LTD night you won’t want to miss!
