When I was contacted by Brittney Rose of Specialized Veterinary Services about creating custom headshots for their entire staff of 65, there were a few interesting details to consider. As with all our custom headshots, we look to solve our clients’ problems creatively. We love the process of listening and interviewing to find out how we can best be of service.
We discovered that on-site photography was our first priority. This would be a great convenience for their large group that works around the clock. Second, they wanted a white background so the shots could be incorporated into their updated website. I enjoy the clean, modern look of this lighting style but the elaborate setup does present a few space challenges. Third, since SVS is pet hospital, open 24 hours, we could not jam up the lobby with our gear. Working together we were able to brainstorm location solutions.
Finally, they wanted one image for each of the doctors featuring a pet.
This part was fantastic!
At Megan DiPiero Photography, we are all about capturing emotion and personality through our personal branding headshots.
What better way to stand out as veterinarians than by showing a loving connection to animals?
The other conditions mentioned were just logistical issues, easily overcome with a little adaptability! We located the one room in the facility where we could set up for the entire day, and which (barely!) had the physical dimensions to accommodate the shoot. This was the rehabilitation room (move over doggy treadmill!), which was out of the way of patients and long enough to accommodate the right lens, lighting gear and crew for the job.
We then set up three separate shooting days, both to accommodate everyone’s schedules and also to ensure we would have enough time to capture the perfect images for everyone. This would involve several poses, both sitting and standing, as well as wardrobe changes and pet wrangling for all of the doctors and managers.
We brought our team of three (photographer, hair and makeup artist, assistant/retoucher) and got to it! Assisted by the crisp organization of Ms. Rose, who was juggling schedule changes and communication with the subjects who were on deck, we stayed on track for the entire three days. The process was efficient, effective and fun with quite a few staff members commenting, “Huh! That was more enjoyable then I expected!”
We think the great images speak for themselves:
These marketing portraits did more than just help showcase the professionalism of the wonderful team at SVS. They really showed the warm and compassionate side of the doctors and staff.
We declared that when we get another cat, we will bring her here for care! Thank you, Specialized Veterinary Services, for sharing your days with our team and for showing us how incredibly caring a pet clinic can be! We loved seeing you all in action and providing these great images for your team!
